Week of April 2-6


6th Grade:

Spelling:  Unit 27:  Prefixes: dis-, ex-, inter-
                Spelling and Vocabulary tests on Friday.
                
                            
Grammar:     Revising(6A) and Organizing Ideas(6B) are the topics on Study Island
                   

Literature:      Both classes are reading Roald Dahl's book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
                     In both classes we are reading some Folktales.
                            
                      
                      
                  
   
                  

7th Grade:

Spelling:  Unit 28:  Words from Places
                Spelling and Vocabulary tests on Friday.
                           

Grammar:   Task, Purpose, and Audience and Organizing Ideas(7A) and Supporting and Developing Topics and Transitions(7B) on Study Island

Literature:     Both classes are reading the book, The Bar Code Tattoo, by Suzanne Weyn.
                     The students will read some Folk Literature and discuss it.
                     
                     
                   
                    
                  
                   
8th Grade:

Spelling:  Unit 28: Words from Places
                Spelling and Vocabulary tests on Friday.
                            

Grammar:    Precise Language and Sensory Details and Planning(8A) and Formatting and Graphics and Planning(8B) on Study Island.

Literature:     Both classes are reading the book, The Wave, by Todd Strasser.
                     Students in both classes will begin their Oral presentations on the Grandparent they picked for their report.
                    
                        
                  
               
                  
Upcoming Events:








We will be taking the NH State Wide Assessment Test on the following dates: March 27 @ 9:00 a.m. Reading,  April 11 @ 9:00 a.m. ELA,  and May 9 @ 9:00 a.m. Math. Please support your child during this testing by using the tips below! Thank you for your continued support to CES schools and your child/children!!

1.) Make sure your child gets a good night's sleep the night before testing.
2.) Provide your child with a health meal the morning of testing.
3.) Talk with your child about trying their best on testing! Let them know that trying, taking their time, and reading questions completely will lead to the best scores they can get!
4.) Let your child know that if they have nerves or are worried about testing they can talk to one of the counselors.
